Description
Explore some of the most famous sites of Florence’s ancient culture while learning about the mysteries of its past. We’ll investigate the ancient city center, where some of the most interesting secrets are kept. Near the Baptistery, Duomo, and Cathedral, all of which are decorated with elaborate facades and marble panels, you’ll learn about the “Miracle of the Flowering Tree” and the “Bull and the Baker.” Afterward, we will walk near Dante’s home and discuss the infamous Church of Dante and Beatrice. We will then stop and see Palazzo Vecchio, famous for its civil architecture, the location of the guilds, and the Medici family political court. While in Piazza della Signoria, you will see an open-air museum filled with many statues including the copy of Michelangelo’s David and the often unnoticed Profile carved by Michelangelo.
